Sparkling Christmas Lights Brings Out The Magic Of Christmas! Colorful Christmas lights sparkling on the Christmas trees
bring out the Christmas cheer in homes every year.
The smell of freshly baked cookies and scented candles, beautiful decorations
and snow flakes falling outside creates that magical feeling of the holiday season.
(Photo by: Jill Smith) It's the start of the festive mood, if you close your eyes, you could imagine the laughter of children playing in the snow, Christmas bells ringing and you may even start to hum your favoriteChristmas music!
I love the glow and smile of delight on the faces of children and adults when they are standing near the trees when the lights come on. I also love to drive around town to see the dazzling display of bright Christmas lights in town where the malls are and in parks where sparkling lights adorned the giant Santa Claus and his reindeers. It was also a great pleasure to see many home owners who spent time, effort and money to buy both indoor and outdoor Christmas lights and decorations to brighten up the neighborhood.

How to choose indoor Christmas lights: 1. If you are choosing lights for your Christmas tree, then you have to bring your tree measurements to the store where you are purchasing it. 2. Bring along your own measuring tape 3. I can't visualize in my mind how long and how many lights I will need, I usually ask the sales staff for assistance and advice. 4. Usually stores selling lights will sell trees too. I will ask the store sales person to show me a tree that is of the same size as my tree. And I will choose the same Christmas lights that's hung on the tree on display. 5. I usually choose battery operated LED mini lights. It saves energy and money. This is important for many homes especially now that gas cost a bomb, every penny or coin counts. 6. There are many color lights to choose from: multi colors or single colors. Try to match your color with the Christmas theme and decorations. 7. The lights also come in 25, 50, 100 or more mini lights, standard lights come with blinks (with a frequency button), others with complex blinking patterns. 8. Besides the Christmas tree, you can also choose indoor window rope lights and lights to hang around the edge of your cupboards, bookshelves kitchen door and dressing mirrors! 9. Ensure that you check the box for instructions on the usage like batteries or electricity, the appropriate watts and making sure that it is for indoor use. 10. Ensure that the product is approved by your local electrical safety authorities.
How to choose outdoor Christmas lights:
1. Your house and yard will be transformed into a "themed magical land" with the appropriate outdoor lightnings. 2. Choose outdoor LED lights for great energy savings. 3. There are 3 standard types of lights: rope, net and icicle. Rope lights are for outlining the building, house or garden walls. Net lights, as the name suggests, is for covering the trees, bushes or a display like a blanket. Lastly, icicle lights are made to look like melting ice hanging down from trees or building structures. Recently, there are so many more new type of lights, they come in multi shapes, color and sizes. They can be stars, balls and animal shapes! (Photo by: Claudia Meyer) 4. Spotlights can be purchased as one of the lightnings for your swimming pool(for those who have summer Christmas), garden, outdoor dining area, shining on the wreaths, mistletoes and other decorations. 5. Check that all electrical equipments are approved and stamped by your local safety authorities. 6. Check to ensure that all outdoor lights and its wires are waterproof and have safety switches. 7. For extensive outdoor wiring works, it is best leave it to the experts: certified electricians, in case of accidents. 8. Similarly, check out the box for instructions like electricity or batteries to be used, and making sure that it is for outdoor use. Do test out the lights at the store before you make your payment.
