Ideal Christmas Trees For Your Homes! I love beautiful Christmas trees as the main decoration for my Christmas parties.
Decorating the trees can be delightful experiences, especially you when you have spent precious time working on it with your family members and loved ones.

Many of us had fond memories of our childhood doing activities together as a family such as purchasing the Christmas trees, making Christmas decorations
and ornaments, crafts, Christmas cookies, Christmas menu planning
and feasting on mummy's yummy Christmas food.
So tis the season to buy that special tree. Which type do you prefer? Many people prefer to buy real Christmas trees because it is more environmentally friendly. It is not rocket science to figure out that a real tree only last for the season while plastic ones can be re-used for 6 years, sometimes longer. However, it is common knowledge that plastics do not decompose easily and it will remain on earth for many years. So why not consider purchasing a real Christmas tree this year.
If you are one of those lucky people in the world to be able to get real Christmas trees in your country, you are so BLESSED! If you are those who can only get your hands at beautifully created trees (plastic ones), do consider making your ornaments and other decorating items from recycled materials.
Here's some tips for choosing real Christmas trees:
1. Go to the store or tree farm early (for example in mid-November) to avoid disappointment
2. Measure the height of the area where you intend to put your tree.
3. To test for freshness, pull the tree towards you. Consider going to the tree farms to choose your ideal tree.
If you pull or put down the tree and excessive needles fall off, move on to the next tree.

4. Wear old clothes and bring along gloves if you are going to choose and collect your own tree.
5. Ensure that you have strong strings to tie the tree to the roof of your car, truck or van etc
6. Ask the store when the tree was delivered to the store. If it was there for a few months, you may want to choose the later batch so that your tree can last longer.
7. If you are on a budget, you can choose to display two good sides of the tree instead of all the sides. Some of the trees with two good sides are offered on a discount in some stores. (Discounts are rare during the pre-Christmas period)
8. Make sure your tree "drink" enough water on a regular basis.
Here's some tips for choosing plastic Christmas trees:
 1. Similarly go to the stores or order online early. If you are on a budget, you should purchase your tree after Christmas and keep it in the store room until the next Christmas.
2. Also ensure you have the correct height and width measurement for your ideal tree and the place for display.
3. Open up the box to check if there's any defects. Learn from the store staff how to assemble the tree if this is your first time purchasing a plastic tree.
4. Check the stand for balance.
Place your trees (real or plastic) away from any heat sources for example electrical sockets, fireplace, stoves, computers and electronic equipments.
Here's some modern Christmas trees made from recycled materials or edible ingredients:
1. Recycled Coke Cans
During my high school days, my teacher gave us a Christmas project to work on. We were so excited that it only took 3 weeks during break time after school hours and weekends to work on it. We came up with the idea of a Christmas tree made of empty Coke cans.
There were 30 of us, we bought and drank the Coke everyday! We went to our neighbours, friends and relatives to ask them to contribute their cans. It took us less than 2 weeks to pile up about 500 cans, glued together plus 1 week on the decorations. As we didn't have the money to buy the decorations, we made the streamers from crepe papers, the Christmas symbols like stars and bells from colored construction papers and used fabrics and laced from our old clothes for Santa, angels and reindeers.
As we can't find enough Christmas lights, we borrowed disco lights and spot lights from the DJ who was supposed to be performing at our graduation party. We also hang colorful luminous glow lights as part of the ornaments.
2. Unique Tree House Cookie or cake
Why not consider making a tree house made of cookies or cake? You can gather your children to help with this fun and exciting baking activity together. You can buy a mini tree and make the house using cookies or cakes. Just let your imagination flow. Dress up your cookie in Christmas colors like red, green, white and gold.
3. Playdough tree
The children will love making playdough Christmas trees, just add some small colorful metallic stars or heart shapes and sequins on it.
4. Edible Fondant Trees
Make this another child activity. Make green, red and white color fondant. Like playdough, it is fun to cut, roll and mould it into the a big tree on a serving tray or large plate. Add the red and white fondant as decorations for the "tree" using cookie cutters to make shapes of Santa, reindeer, stars or heart shapes. After you are done, eating it together with the kids can be real fun.
5. "Tropical Fruits Tree"
If you do live in the part of the world where Christmas is sunny throughout why not decorate your tree with tropical fruits like bananas, coconuts, pineapples, durians, starfruit, mangoes, rambutans and so on? Well if you are serious about hanging real fruits then use the smaller size fruits like lychees, longans, bananas, rambutans, kiwis, starfruits, pomegranates and so on. You can bunch the red, green and white color fruits together. In addition, give your guest a cocktail drink for them to down the fruits with. Cheers.
Do take lots of photos with your creative Christmas trees!
