Choosing Your Ideal Engagement Rings

You have rehearsed your grestest proposal and you would like choose that perfect pair of engagement rings for your sweetheart.

Choosing that your ideal rings for engagement is an investment and it is your hope that it will capture her heart.

Wedding

Diamond rings are usually the hot favorite followed by other precious metals and gems.

Here are some tips for choosing diamond rings:

When choosing diamond engagement rings or wedding rings, you will have to examine the 5Cs : Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat and Certification.

Cut refers to the dimensions of the diamond’s width, table, depth, girdle and so on. Diamonds are usually cut to maintain its weight or brilliance and light.

Near perfect proportions diamond cut will result in maximizing the diamond’s brilliance, fire, light and sparkle.

Color

Diamonds that are deemed rare and harder to find, are those that are colorless. They are most appealing therefore more valuable. Usually diamond lovers or collectors will seek out these type of diamonds.

Clarity

Clarity of the diamond rings refers to the presence or absence of internal and external flaws and blemishes. Usually diamonds that are rare, do not have flaws and blemishes. They are expected to be more expensive because of the demand and supply of this precious stone. Flaws or blemishes may occur during mining or cutting, it will therefore affects the clarity of the diamonds.

Carat

Some diamond buyers will decide their purchase based on weight. For couples waiting to tie the knot, they usually look out for the cut, clarity, color and the budget. This is followed by the size of the diamond and a comfortable fit. Like all the Cs mentioned, the larger the carat size, the rarer the diamond and therefore do expect the bling to cost more.

Certification

When choosing diamond rings, one should asked for certification. It is a report issued by an accredited independent gemological laboratory after the diamond has been examined under a microscope by gemologist. The gemologist will analyse every aspect of the diamond and give it a stamp.

Diamond Care

It is very important to take care of your investment, just like your antiques, stocks and shares. One should choose diamond settings that provides protection to the diamond and that the diamond is set rightly. Do not subject your diamond rings to harsh chemicals and scratches. Hard knocks or hitting on hard surfaces with force, these actions will dislodge the diamonds from the settings. Use soft cloth to clean and shine surfaces from dirt and dust. Once a year, bring the ring to your local jeweler for expert cleaning (some of these services are free). When your diamond ring is not on your hand, it should be stored in a soft pouch to prevent it from mixing with the rest of your jewelry and from scratches.

Lastly, do remember that these engagement rings or wedding rings will be yours forever and it is very important that it fits the wearer comfortably. Do visit your local jewelry boutique together and discuss with the experts there and also decide together. I hope that you will be able to find that beautiful piece that both of you set eyes on and hope it binds you together happily everafter.

Hope to hear your wedding bells ringing soon!
