Perfect Princess Party For A Lovely Girl!

A princess party is the dream of every little girl and sometimes even the bigger girls too!

If you have a daughter and she likes to dress up and loves all things pretty and nice, she will definitely like the princess theme party.

For my precious little girl's 5th birthday, I had a fairy princess theme party for her. Needless to say, she enjoyed it so much she kept talking about it whenever we talked about birthdays. One of her friend's mummy enjoyed the party so much that she stayed throughout the party to take pictures.

Here's the princess party planning details:

Start your party planning early at least three months ahead. Buy all your party supplies, decorations, invitations aterials, cake materials, music and games and party essentials at least two months before your party.

1. Invitation

My little girl loves all pastel colors. Two weeks before the party, I drew a picture of a fairy princess on colored papers. My children help me with the coloring and cutting the edges of the card with wave and zigzag blade scissors. The cover of the card with the princess picture were the words:

You're Invited to:

(and inside the card reads)

The King and Queen wishes your presence At the Royal Birthday Celebration of Fairy Princess _______________ On:

Royal Date: 13 March 2008 (Thu)

Castle Address:

Auspicious Time: 3 – 5.30 pm*(Tea Party)

(Magical Princess Party starts at 3 pm sharp)

Dress Code: Your Royal Best

RSVP by : 7 March 2008 (Fri) by cutting out the invite & give to teacher or call _________________ (for our Royal Chef to plan the Royal Feast )

*Please kindly drop off your princes/princesses at the Royal castle by 3 pm and your horse carriage pick up should be at 5.45 pm. Thank you!

2. Decorations

Decorate your home or party venue with princess balloons and streamers. Use rainbow color poster paper to cut out the words:

Happy Birthday ____________!(name of birthday girl).

You can either buy wall scenes or create your own by cuting out refrigerator cardboards of the outline of the castle gate. Decorate the top of the castle with flags made of cloth glued onto wooden sticks. We cut out poster of the princess and paste it on the castle.

In order to have a coordinated princess party theme, I bought matching princess table cloths, cups, paper plates, pink forks and spoons and pink and white striped straws. To top it off, we had pink and silver baloons tied around the living room where the party was held.

3. Party Cake

We custom made a party cake using the same drawing of the princess that we used for the invitation card.

4. Party Food and Drinks

From past experiences, we realised that kids' main focus at a party is not the food. They are more interested in the games and birthday cake. I decided to made a combination of some health recipes and some popular ones for them. We had the following delicious and kids friendly home made party food and drinks:

a. Rolled bacon and on sausages

b. Star, heart and animals-shaped mini sandwiches

c. Honey glazed and mixed herb lemon fried chicken wings

d. Tuna, carrot and crunchy waterchestnut potato mini pies

e. Chicken and broccolli spaghetti

f. Mini hamburgers

g. Baked French fries

h. Ribena fruit drink - I added some mini size strawberries, peaches, watermelons and banana slices in the non frizzy and frizzy version of the drink.

5. Party Favors

Match your party favors to your princess party theme by making or purchasing matching pink colored bags. Throw in a glass slipper, a prioncess mirror, necklace, bracelet, tiara, princess notebook and pencil or pen and comb. Pink wrapper sweets, strawberry flavored drink and strawberry cookies or candies will be a great hit for the favory bags!

6. Face painting

I bought some non allergy face paints and let the kids have fun coloring each other faces.

7. Party Music

I bought some kids party music for example the disney princess party CD, disco party and some classical music pieces to play as background music and for the games.

8. Princess Party Games

a. Ariel's Undersea hunt - Do Scavenger Hunt at yur garden or backyard. Use plastic sea creatures as the items.

b. Cinderella's Glass Slippers - Treasure Hunt game. You will hide a few "glass slippers" around the party venue as the prize.

c. Snow White's Poison Apples - Eating Apples contest. Tie apples on clothes lines and have 3 kids for the contest.

iv. Belle's Rose Picking contest - You will need rose petals or paper rose petals, bowls and buckets. Pour rose petals onto a 2 large plastic bowls on the tables. Get 2 plastic tongs for each team to pick all the rose petals from the bowl and run back to the team mate and pass the bucket. Sercnd person will use plastic tongs to pick rose petals and put it back onto the bowl o the table. This will repeat until the fourth person return to the finishing line. The winning team is the first to reach the finishing line with bucket full of petals.

d. Jasmine's Magic Carpet Ride - This is actually "Musical chair" game where guests are ask to sit on mats instead of chairs when the music stops.

vi. Sleeping Beauty's Magical Spell - This is a "Freeze Dance" where guests will freeze whent he music stops. The person who moves gets "kicked out" of the game. This elimination game will get three winnners.

e. Pocahontas Hunting Arrows - Wooden sticks or satay sticks for pocking and picking up as many sausages or fishballs as possible under one mintue. This game is suitable for those above 3 years old.

f. Mulan's Chopsticks and Beans - This is a test of your chopsticks picking skills. Put in a bowl of 100 beans (you can choose whatever bean you want to use, it can be coffee beans or soya beans. Don't be too mean to choose small beans. Afterall kids will find it difficult and lose interest in the game quickly. You can replace the beans by putting in cocktail sausages, meat balls, carrots or celery sticks. The winner is the one that pick up the most items and place it onto another bowl under one mintue.

g. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - This is a "Princess says" instead of "Simon Says" game.

We all had a wonderful and fun princess party. My daughter is looking forward to her disney princesses party next year. What about you?
