You can give your sweetheart a wonderful Valentines Day celebration even on a shoestring budget.
Here's some Valentines Day ideas for those on a budget:

1. Home full of Hearts
Buy colorful papers and cut out heart shapes to fill the living room. Paste on the heart shapes cut outs - printed pictures of the two of you (if you're married the pictures may include special occasion together as a couple like the birth of your first born, second born etc) together at special occasions.
Fill the whole living room by stringing them together with fishing lines or strings. Create some bigger heart shapes for the most important events and paste them as the main banner for your Valentines Day celebration.

2. Great romantic dinner for two
Cook him or her a great dinner to remember! Give it a "sweet hearts" theme. Prepare heart-shaped meals like mashed potatoes served in a heart-shaped (use heart shape baking pans)topped with beefsteak or chicken steak. Make cocktail drinks and served it on heart shaped tall glasses or glasses with heart-shaped straws, fruits like oranges or lemon cut out to heart-shaped slices for decoration. Make desserts like tiramisu or cakes using heart-shaped bowls or cake pans.
There's just 101 different heart-shaped bowls, plates and cookery items at your nearest store. Check out the famous heart-shaped strawberries cake or how about heart-shaped fruits chocolate fondue? Purchase heart-shaped red or pink balloons, place your hand written love poems, pictures of you both, her favorite heart-shaped chocolates, candies and gifts like small bracelet and earrings etc. Blow and tie them together with ribbons or laces and present them together with some flower arrangements in a basket.
4. Balloon sculpture
Buy different types of balloons and create balloon decorations like arches at your gate or doorway or garden. Make balloons in different heart shapes and hang them all over the house. Combine with some Christmas lights at the wall create a main focal area where you can arrange the words:
"Happy Valentines Day"
5. Create a "101 reasons why I love you" photo or book album
You can reproduce item number 1 above and paste all the heart shapes with the pictures of you and your partner together in a scrap book or photo album. Put it in chronological order and add in your love notes on why you love him or her on each picture.
6. Romantic love songs
Download as many romantic love songs that you both loved to hear onto the new MP3 player you bought. Give it to your love as a Valentines Day present. Wrap the player with a home made wrapper with the best-looking picture of the both of you. Tie the wrapper with white or cream lace and red or pink heart-shape papers.

1. Holiday Escapes - Book a holiday for two to the place or places that you have always wanted to go.
2. Hotel Escapes - Can't afford a long holiday? How about a romantic night away? For married couples with kids it will be a relaxing night away from the kids and to rekindle that flame of first love again.
3. Romantic Spa for Two - Book yourself into a resort spa or just a spa near your area. It can be done during the afternoon and you can have high tea after that.
4. White water rafting - For those who are adventurous, white water rafting is one of those extreme sports not for the faint hearted!

5. Wine tasting - Do you and your partner have refined taste for wine? Are you game enough to try all kind of wine at one go. Arrange with your local wine connoisseur or a local hotel who will organizes private wine tasting sessions for couples or business associates etc.
6. Hiking at the National Park - The great outdoors, a chance for you and your loved one to reconnect with each other with the nature's best scenery and landscape. 13. Theatre or movie outing – This is one of the most popular and easy to grab and go type of Valentines Day date!

1. Buy a set of compilation of romantic love songs CDs.
2. Custom made your own teddy bear plus a bouquet of self arranged red roses
3. Buy white picture frame and paint on your own favorite border with red, pink and white. Add in one of your favorite photos taken together.
Home make some chocolate cookies and packed them in a cookie jar and wrap it round with red or pink lace. Alternatively, you can make heart-shaped colored or rainbow cookies or cupcakes.
4. Knit your love one a sweater, scarf, bag or gloves.
5. If you have the budget and your time is tight, custom made an Italian leather jacket, cowboy boots, or any clothing items that your loved one needs.
6. Make a funny video of yourself declaring your love. You don't have to put it on Youtube, just show it to your loved one after dinner.
7. Make a special Valentines card for your sweetheart, add in a personal poem or design her a ecard. Send her a ecard with pictures of both of you, everyday for a week with different love messages.
