Stunning Wedding Hairstyles For A Perfect Bride!

Choosing perfect wedding hairstyles to match your stunningwedding gowns, evening gowns and hair accessories need careful wedding planning and many trials for some of the brides-to-be.

If you are game enough (and budget wise), why not take it your personal challenge to start a change of hair styles and try out a variety of hair spa treatments every weekend from the day you said "yes" to his "Will you marry me?".

Do some research on the internet and magazines, there are so many beautiful trends and bridal hairstyles. Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Does the latest trend of wedding hairstyles suit you comfortably?

2. Can you wear it, be confident and be yourself?

3. How long or short should you cut your hair?

4. How long does it take to grow your hair to an ideal length for that particular style?

5. What to do if you have damaged your hair due to a holiday at the beach without enough sun protection or due to a lousy job at a new hair salon?

6. Do you understand the texture of your hair, is it naturally wavy, straight, thick or thin? Does it breaks easily at the ends? Do you have a lot of grey hair?

7. Do you have a medical condition like an allergic reaction to hair chemicals used in hair sprays, colorings, perm and treatments?

8. What was your last hair cut or perm disaster?

My mum advised me to grow my hair and let it be free from damaging treatments like perms or rebonding or coloring for at least a year before my wedding day. Except for an occasional hair cut and blow dry at my favorite hair salon, I also went for hair spa and moisture treatments to "repair" my sun kissed and damaged locks as I used to swim frequently in the sun. I didn't cut down on activities under the sun though but I will tuck my hair under caps and hats, put on moisture hair sprays and sunblocks for my face and body. I took her advise seriously and I'm glad I did!

Here are some wedding planning tips for perfect wedding hairstyles:

1. Whether you have short, medium or long hair, plan to grow your present hair length to a desired length with allowance for it to be cut a month before your wedding day. Well, with today's technology, even if you can't grow your hair long enough near to your wedding day, there's hair pieces and hair extensions to help achieve that look you wanted. However, I personally prefer my natural hair without worrying my relative's toddler accidently pulling my hair piece or hair extensions out when we are taking photographs together!

2. Shop and try a few different hair stylist (those that specialist in wedding hair styles) and discuss their rates. Or discuss with your trusted friend and regular hair stylist who is also able to work on a few customised wedding hair styles for you. Show him or her your wedding theme, pictures of your wedding gowns, cocktail dresses and evening gowns etc. Discuss with her the various options of hair styles that suit your hair type and personality.

3. If you want your hair to have a perm, color or treatment do plan your trip to the hair salon at least one and half month before your wedding day.Your new perm, color or treatment will "set" the look and it will be more natural looking by the time your wedding day arrives. Also you will have already settled comfortably with the routine of curling or straightening your hair or simply the look of your hair color.

4. Depending on the hour of your wedding ceremony or activities on your wedding day, try to get your hair stylist not to work on your hair too early in the morning especialy for updos. And the wedding hairstyles should not be too tight or it will cause you a bad headache and spoilts your mood for the day. Ideally, the stylist should be back to work on your evening wedding hairstyles look to match the evening gowns.

5. If you are planning on working on your own wedding hairstyles, great! However, you will need some help from your maid of honor or bridesmaids to hand you some of those bobby pins for your bun wrap, adjust your tiara or veil and perhaps smoothen out areas that's your "blind spots". This way, you will not be so stressed on your wedding day!

6. Some daring brides do go for a complete turn around change. Unless you are adventurous, do try out totally new styles at least once several months before your wedding day. This way, you will know exactly how the wedding hairstyles will or will not suit you and you have enough time to rectify it.

7. You can use the pre wedding photography sessions as your "trial" sessions for the various bridal hairstyles. After the photography sessions, and when you have collected your wedding photographs, you will be able to determine which bridal hairstyles you look great in and which do not enhance your unique features.

8. Buy or rent hair accessories that matches your wedding theme, wedding gowns and evening gowns etc. For example, for a yatch wedding, a flowing wedding gown will go with laces on wavy, flowing hair or a crown/wreath of flesh local flowers around the head will be perfect for a beach resort wedding!

9. Go for hair treatments like steaming, spa, herbs. There are so many hair treatments at your local salon.

Go ahead, try out different wedding hairstyles at special occassion like a graduation party, company dinner and dances, gala events, relatives and friends' weddings, Christmas parties etc before your plan for your wedding. Also try out different hair treatments to enhance the shine and snipped away all spilt ends and color your greys. Take note of what type of creams, liquid and chemicals that you have a nasty reaction to. So that you can let your new hair stylist know about your chemical allergies. It is no joke when you break out in red dots all over near to your wedding day!

My mum used to brew the Chinese herb "He Shou Wu" for me before my wedding and after I gave birth (I lose a lot of hair after child birth). My Indian friends uses coconut oils, my filipino frined uses olive oil and I heard that Egyptians uses goats' milk. What's your secret hair treatment recipes? Do share it with us by contacting me. Your sharing will be most appreciated!
