Choosing Your Wedding Rings

Choosing your wedding rings is the one most important and exciting shopping trips admist your wedding planning.

Afterall, they are representation of a couple's commitment and love for each other physically. They are worn for the entire duration of the marriage; therefore, it is one important piece of jewelry or investment that you will need careful selection before and care after you bought it.

It is important that you considered all aspects before you finally make the decision to purchase this significant piece. And the careful and appropriate care to make this piece of jewelry last a lifetime.

What is the significance of a Wedding Ring?

They are usually cicular in the shape. Circle symbolizes perfection, unity, peace, holiness, endlessness because it has no beginning and has no end. In Christianity, the circle also represents God’s endless love.

There are many types of rings you can choose from the jewelers, from off the shelves to custom made ones. The commonly used metals and gems are: diamond, gold, platinum and titianum.

Diamond

When choosing diamond rings, you will have to examine the 5Cs : Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat and Certification.

Choosing Gold or Platinum Rings

Every jewelry store will have a wide array of rings from silver, gold to platinum. Which metal is best suited for you? White gold was in trend but pure gold is now in vogue. What about platinum?

Gold

Gold is measured on a karat scale. The purest form of gold is 24 karats (24K), it may bend with daily wear because it is the soft grade.

Jewelry makers or manufacturers will combine other metals such as copper, nickel and zinc to strengthen this grade of gold. For example, 12K, 14k and 18k belongs to this category.

Platinum

Platinum is not measured on a karat scale, but the metal does come in different grades. Iridplat, 900 Plat, or 900 PT all refer to an alloy mixture containing 90% platinum and 10% iridium, another platinum group metal.

Whether you are choosing your wedding or engagement rings, it is an investment that needs your time, effort and a lot of reserach. Do take your time to visit reputable jewelry shops or online jewelry retailers and enjoy your shopping with that very special person you love.
